Wheelchair Ministry Coordinator

  • Coordinate phone calls for delivery or pickup
  • Coordinate storage
  • Coordinate with Joni Ministry for pickup

  • Promote the ministry

Samaritan Center Volunteer Coordinator

Mission Board - Shirley Mapstone and Tom Shephard

Promote the need for volunteers and advise when opportunities are available -Coordinate with Samaritan Center the need, time, number of individuals needed etc.

Blood Drive

Coordinated by Shirley Mapstone

  • The Blood Drives are held in the church gym and are held Two times per year
  • Contact/Coordinate with Red Cross day, date, time
  • Line up volunteers to phone individuals (reminders)
  • Arrange for volunteers to help with serving table at event
  • Set Up/Clean Up site as necessary

F M Food Pantry

Mission Board Members

  • Coordinate with Pantry the specific items needed
  • Promote items needed in the bulletin/newsletter
  • Arrange for delivery of items to Pantry

Corresponding with Missionaries

Pen, Paper, Computer and a willingness and heart to correspond with missionaries serving the Lord around the world, along with their families

Refugee Assistance

Refugee Committee – Team Leaders – Tom Shephard and Darlene Endy Along with several committee members

  • Be open to the call to assist with donation of goods or time to help in the settlement of refugees perhaps through Interfaith Works.

International Ministry

Promote ABC International Ministries and how they impact our church and the international community

Special Mission Offering Coordinator

  • Promote and coordinate the various special mission opportunities through the newsletter, bulletin, or live announcements during worship
  • Have an excitement for promoting the four special offerings and how they serve the Lord

Camping Ministry

  • Promote the camping ministry through ABCNYS
  • Support the financial requests to continue camping ministry for all ages

Mission Trip Coordinator

  • Work with individuals who express an interest or bring attention to a mission trip
  • Assist in fundraising for the trip
  • Promote and Pray for individuals willing to serve and participate

Shoes for Haiti

Coordinator – Ann Morales

  • Be a willing participant by donating used shoes, in any condition that are packaged and shipped to Haiti.

Mitten Tree

Each year a tree is set up just before Christmas and individuals and families are asked to donate winter mittens, hats, gloves and scarves to be donated to the Salvation Army for distribution. Mission Board coordinates this activity.

KAREN MINISTRY (REFUGEES)

  • Work with and through the Iroquois Association in assisting in resettlement – clothing, house wares, assisting with language etc.
  • Have a heart for helping.
  • Anyone interested in helping the Karen Community, mainly located in the Utica/Rome area.

CHRISTMAS FAMILY GIFT PROGRAM

Volunteers are sought annually to assist with this activity.

  • Coordinate with Playschool or other individuals in locating a family or families in need and give them a Christmas – clothing, toys etc. The clothing can be gently used.
  • Publicize how the church family can help by giving the name, age, clothing size, and sex of the family members that are being helped.
  • Coordinate the wrapping and transporting of the gifts to the family or families to be in time for Christmas

Samaritan’s Purse – Shoeboxes

Colleen Guynup has coordinated this activity for the past several years.

  • Annually, before Thanksgiving, a promotion about filling shoeboxes with gifts for children around the world is done. Individuals are asked to fill these boxes with age appropriate toys, candy, school supplies, socks, toiletries. These boxes are then transported to a central location for pickup and delivery.

CROP Walk

  • An annual walk for hunger that targets family in the local area in need of food.
  • Several churches join in by lining up walkers who collect donations for walking. A vast majority of the money is given to the local pantries.
